Sharing God's Love Digitally Around Valentine's Day

0

SIDEKICK Valentines Day

With Valentine's Day sparking conversations about romantic love along with the prevalent cultural baggage that entails, it holds great opportunities for Digital Missionaries, as well. With the season of love upon us, digital missionaries have a great opportunity to enter into a dialogue about longing, heartbreak, identity, and intimacy - shining light on truths of God, which liberates.

Practical Ideas of Sharing God's Love Digitally

So, what can Digital Missionaries do during the Valentine season to share God's love to others:

  • Ask questions about what true love means to them and how they've experienced it. Tie themes back to God's unconditional and sacrificial love shown through Jesus.
  • Create posts and graphics highlighting Biblical principles for healthy relationships - mutual care, respect, conflict resolution, the value of covenant commitment rather than fleeting emotion.
  • Share testimonies of marriages, friendships or mentor relationships that overcame major rifts through exhibiting patient grace and forgiveness inspired by Christ.
  • Talk about God's love and forgiveness for us all. Share the Gospel with others.
  • Discuss the lies pop culture and the world often perpetuate about romance and fulfillment coming from "the one" person perfectly compatible. Contrast that with how putting our hope and spiritual intimacy into Christ first brings greater relationship health and satisfaction.
  • For those struggling with loneliness, past relational hurts or feeling unlovable, offer empathy and hope rooted in their identity as dearly loved children of God. Encourage people to share those with God and ask Him to lead and guide you.
  • Share how all human love is meant to give us a glimpse of a greater love of God.
  • Share examples of how to love those around us - even seemingly unlovable people - more selflessly by looking to Jesus' example.

Valentine's Day can be really cheesy. Resist the urge to share cheesy taglines like "Jesus is my Valentine" and share practical and encouraging insights, questions and thoughts that point people to Jesus.

Conclusion

Like many holidays and special events, Valentine's Day can be a great opportunity for Digital Missionaries. By sharing powerful of love, reconciliation, forgiveness of betrayals, and commitment through trials, we not only share how God embodies all of these but it also provides current examples of God's love in action through people today.
