Using Online Groups to Reach Your Community this Easter

0

SIDEKICK Easter Groups

It's Easter season! It is one of the most powerful seasons of the year for Churches. The death and resurrection of Jesus Christ stands out as history’s defining moment. It's one filled with power to bring salvation to all seeking true hope and purpose. That is why each Easter presents a pivotal opportunity to help friends, family, coworkers, and neighbors encounter the risen Savior.

Often times during the Easter season, Churches work diligently to host special outreach events and services. While those are good to do, there is one way to help people really experience the hope of Christ during the season. That is through Online Bible Studies and Groups. By encouraging members of your Church to start these groups, it empowers them to reach their friends and it makes it increases the chances that a friend would accept an offer since is from someone they know, trust and respect. After all, a heartfelt invitation from someone they know and trust goes a long way.

But why online groups and Bible studies? Why not invite them to a home or Church gathering? The simple reasons why is because online groups are easy entry points for people to do. People are more likely to accept an invite to something on their phone in which they can do the reading at any time rather than show up a someones house or Church when they wouldn't normally do that. And, it is an easy entry point for a Group Leader. With an Online Bible Study you are reading and facilitating discussion. You don't have to get your house ready for people to come over and get food prepared. These groups are creative, easily accessible, short, and interactive.

Examples of Easter Groups

Here are examples of different Online Groups you can start this Easter.

  • Text Groups. Use a Church Text number via a group like Text-in-Church where you can send out Bible stories and passages to encourage people with hope and stories of redemption leading up to Easter. You can also encourage them to share what questions or encouragement they are getting from the reading.
  • Facebook Groups. Most everyone has a Facebook account. That makes being part of a group an easy sign up for people. In this Facebook Group you can share Bible passages to encourage people, but also share spring cleaning tips, spring and Easter crafts for families, dinner and dessert recipes and other seasonal tips and encouragement. This is a perfect group to introduce people to Jesus and the gospel.
  • YouVersion Bible App Groups. The YouVersion Bible App is a great app for reading the Bible and doing Bible studies, especially group studies. Here you can start a group, invite people into it and chat about the passages you read in a private group chat area. They are fantastic for people to discuss the readings daily. Just search "Easter" or the topic you want to cover and you can find Bible studies ranging from 3 days to a whole year.

Conclusion

This Easter season, use online Bible studies to help shine the light of Christ to other that will spark hope and life transformation. There is power during this time of year and peoples lives can be transformed by the power of Christ. So, as your church gears up with special programming and services for Easter, make sure you encourage people at lead and get involved in an Online Bible Study this year.
