How to Make Your Online Christmas Eve Service Special

0

Christmas Eve

Christmas Eve services provide a great opportunity for churches to focus on the true meaning of the season, the celebrating of the birth of Jesus. These services are also some of the highest-attended church events of the year. Regular attendees have a great chance to bring their unchurched family, friends, neighbors, and coworkers to hear the gospel for potentially the first time. That's why Christmas Eve services, online or in person, are important.

With so much opportunity for the Christmas Eve, there are a few things you can do online that will help make the service(s) special and unique. So, what can you do? Here are a few ideas:

  • Pre-service Trivia. Remember going to a movie theater and they had pre-movie ads and trivia? Those kept your attention. In the same way, you can do trivia questions in the 5+ minutes before your Christmas Eve service starts. T'hey can be fun trivia as well as spiritual trivia about the birth of Jesus.
  • Pre-service Announcements and Next Steps. Just as trivia can keep people engaged before the service starts, showing slides of upcoming announcements or next steps people can take is a great way to grab peoples attention before the service starts.
  • Give away Gift Cards in the Chat Room. Getting prizes is fun! So, giving away random prizes and gift cards on Christmas Eve is a great way to keep people online engaged. It also helps to interact and meet new people. You can do new prizes 2-3 times during the service to keep people on their toes and wondering what will happen next. If you want to collect peoples information, maybe, to get a gift card or prize, you ask them to fill out a connection card and you use those cards to call out the winner.

Conclusion

The Christmas Eve service itself is special. However, by add one or more of the above ideas, you can make it unique and special for those attending online. And, who knows, maybe you'll discover something that will help make your Online Service special and unique all year round.
