2024 for The Church Digital has been incredible.
When I started The Church Digital in 2018, the goal was to help the big “C” church better understand digital ministry, moving beyond just broadcasting online services and understanding digital connection, community, and discipleship.
In 2019, we started meeting people with a vision to launch a digital church… a church without a building. Early pioneers like DJ Soto, Angela Craig, and Mark Lutz were setting an example for others to follow.
2020 brought us relationships with Stadia Church Planting, which has a vision of a digital church. COVID was gasoline on the flame, and the necessity of digital church and discipleship exploded. Relationships with Exponential, Leadership Network, NewThing Network, Finishing the Task, Pushpay, Resi, StartChurch, and others allowed the idea to spread quickly.
In the years since the lockdown, our vision for digital discipleship has been renewed and stronger than ever.
While The Church Digital continues to offer consulting and learning communities to champion digital ministry, our passion is to see individuals be discipled digitally and develop their personal mission.
And we’ve learned that discipleship happens best in community.
To that end I want to invite all our connections, friends, and supporters to join our family in digital community… in Discord
!
Some of you may not be familiar with Discord, but it is a powerful platform similar to WhatsApp or Slack.
As an asynchronous community, we are already building relationships with people on at least four continents. Through our discipleship process, run on Discord, we’re already training the next generation of digital missionaries and digital church planters.
Discover 10 tips on how to run an asynchronous community for your Church.
Our learning communities invite physical churches to experiment and innovate for the cause of Christ. Our peer-to-peer groups will connect people on mission, developing relationships digitally grounded in prayer, encouragement, and ministry accountability. With regular streams and open offices, The Church Digital is becoming the paradigm for a digital discipleship community, and I hope it will set the standard for churches to follow. Almost all our training and resources are done in, or connected to, Discord.
God has been good to The Church Digital. If you have questions or want to share encouragement, you can always reply to this email… or join the FAM on The Church Digital’s Discord Server and say “hey” there.
