EP263: Flatcap, Physical Pastors, & Twitch

0

Hey friends, Jeff here from The Church Digital Podcast. We’ve got a great conversation coming up from Flatcap - Twitch’s Leighton Seys, digging into how physical pastors are utilizing Twitch!

Through TCD Podcast’s Season 4: Jesus, Gamers and Church we’ve been exploring how the church can reach Gaming and Nerd culture. We’ve explored Digital Churches, eSports, Digital Missionaries…and this week we’re digging deep into physical pastors who stream on Twitch.

Flatcap leads a network of physical pastors who are streaming on Twitch. Through his network Flatcap provides coaching, care, and community to others. Flatcap is also a huge part of Digital Church Network as our Director of Relationships.

I was unavailable for this recording, but Mark Lutz from Lux Digital Church and friends with Flatcap jumped on for the interview. So jump on with Mark and Flatcap, and let’s start exploring what pastors are currently doing on Twitch.

ABOUT Mark Lutz

Mark is the lead and founding pastor of Lux Digital Church.  He lives in and has pastored outside of Pittsburgh, PA since 2010 and in March of 2021 he and his family decided to start an entirely online church in the gaming community.  He has two daughters named Brooklyn and Aria and spends most of his free time gaming and spending time with his family.  Mark is passionate about reaching people that would rather go to Hell than come to church and he believes that many of them can only be reached through the screen that's in front of them for hours every day.

ABOUT Flatcap Dapper Pastor

Sporting a flat cap since 8th grade, never one to want to blend in to the crowd.  Married for 25+ yrs w/ 3 kids.

I have a heart for hurting people & supporting pastors. In the midst of Covid I resigned as Senior Pastor of my church, as I felt it was healthiest for the church. I began watching a pastor friend on twitch. I soon realized the mission field & began feeling a call there to create a pastoral support network. Graduate of DTS. Ordained Minister in the RCA. Served in churches in TX, SD, IA, and MI. Find joy investing & serving others on mission trips, helping kids get a bike, mentoring others, & coached state champions wrestlers & XC. Covid hobby: Wine making.
