EP249 - Jason Shepperd & Volunteer Accountability

0

MICROCHURCHES ARE FASCINATING TO ME.

You have volunteers with an extremely high level of commitment, serving as a church. These are not fairweather volunteers by any stretch. These are people that open up their homes weekly, prepping sermons, relationally engaging week-by-week, day-by-day.

How do you grow that level of commitment? How does discipleship help foster healthy accountability? As we look at the future of digital and metaverse churches, the decentralized model of digital will continue to influence a healthy approach. Is it possible to get volunteer commitment of a digital/metaverse church at the same level as a microchurch owner would?

THESE ARE SOME OF THE QUESTIONS WE DIG IN WITH JASON SHEPPERD, LEADER OF CHURCH PROJECT.

With incredible understanding of the megachurch model, as well as the microchurch model, Jason Shepperd is in a great position to give us advice heading into our exploration of digital and metaverse churches. So lean in with Jason and Jeff as we talk volunteer accountability.

Disclaimer: Due to a unforeseen issue, we had to reschedule schedule podcasts. This podcast was supposed to be EP250, which was celebrated on the podcast. Unfortunately, things change. EP250 will be next week, but for today enjoy EP249.

ABOUT JASON SHEPPERD MILLER

Jason Shepperd planted Church Project, a “Church of House Churches,” in The Woodlands, TX, in 2010. The pursuit of Rethinking and Returning to what Christ originally intended for His church to be led to beginning with a group of 40 people in two House Churches, and has turned into a movement of thousands of people, gathered in many House Churches, in different cities, states, and countries. This Decentralized expression of church Distributes leadership to empowered lay pastors, who fully pastor Diverse Discipleship communities which carry out all of the functions of a church. Local House Churches are connected by common overseers and shared local and global ministries. One result of a connected movement of House Churches is simplicity that allows for radical collective generosity, focusing almost $10 million in their first 12 years toward gospel centered ministries and church planting.

Jason also leads Church Project Network, and House Church Network, which are collectives of churches aligned around the commitment to be a “Church of House Churches”, and Good City, a city centrality for local ministry collaboration and support. He wrote the books “A Church of House Churches: An Articulated and Applied Ecclesiology,” and, “Church Project: A Biblical, Simple, Relevant Pursuit of Church,” to explain the conviction and process that led to Church Project. Jason pastors Church Project, writes and speaks about ecclesiology, and consults churches on how to become a Church of House Churches. Jason loves all things family, sports, competition, outdoors, travel, and trekking mountains. Jason lives in The Woodlands, TX, with his wife Brooke, and their family.
