There are three Church services that are traditionally the most attended Church services of the year. They are Christmas, Easter and Mother's Day. Regardless of peoples attendance throughout the year, people are most likely to come to Church during these three Sundays. That is why there is so much pressure on Churches during these services. You want to create a hospitable and encouraging environment where people who come will want to come back.
As great as the Christmas, Mother's Day and Easter services are for attendance, the reality is attendance traditionally goes back to normal attendance the very next week. That is why, in addition to creating a positive, welcoming environment at your Easter service this year, you want to have a clear call(s) to action. What is it that you want the people to do based on what they experienced? What can your Church offer and give that will make people want to come back to? Here are some event options of what you can offer post Easter this year.
An Adult Event
What does your Church have for women looking to connect with other women? What does it have for men looking for meaningful connections with others in their community? As people are checking out your Church during Easter, share with them ways that you are connecting adults with other adults. Have a men's ministry or women's ministry within the next week to two weeks after Easter that they can connect to. The sooner you can have these events the more likely people will come back.
A Youth and Children's Ministry Event
Just like adults looking for ways to connect with other adults in meaningful ways, they are looking for their children, as well. Families will be coming to your Easter services and they will be checking out what your Church as to offer for their children and teens. Have separate follow up events that kids and teens will be excited about and would want to invite their friends to. With youth, you can even think about an online game night. Two kinds are where you play silly games but give away tons of prices or invite them to a online gaming night where you play video games online together. Either online game options would be great.
An Online Event
This online event could be a great way for adults and families to ministry staff people. Easter is a busy Sunday for staffers and families. That is why you can set up a follow up "Meet the Church" online event the week after Easter is a great way for the Staff to share the vision of the Church and answer any and all questions families have for them. It can also be a great way to share upcoming events and opportunities for families to connect.
As you create a great Easter experience for people coming to your Church, help them see the love and hope of Christ. In addition, help them see that your Church is serious about connecting with them and encouraging them. These are just 4 types, but there are other events you could do. Prayerfully go before God and ask Him what you should do this Easter and implement it today. See how God provides and helps you minister to your community more effectively this year.
